Discover the ancient archaeological site of Pompeii by taking advantage of this private sightseeing tour. The tour starts from Porta Marina, so called because it is in the direction of the sea.  This door, which looks almost like a tower in the ancient city walls, used to have two passages: one for pedestrians, the other for animals and light vehicles. In one of its alcoves there is Minerva’s earthenware statue, the protector of the door. Near the door, there was the Suburban Villa of Porta Marina, an imperial residence with frescoes in Pompeian style (20 BC – 45DC), with an Egyptian design. Just outside the door there are the Suburban Spas, open to the public in 2002, featuring a peculiar dressing room, frescoed by erotic pictures that probably served as a placeholder for prostitution activities provided to customers.

In Via Marina lies the Temple of Venus built by Silla (80 BC), given his particular devotion to the goddess. To the left, always on the same trajectory, the Apollo Temple stands, consisting of a porch with forty-eight columns.
